I care deeply about the work JOIN undertakes and was so impressed with their approach and results that I joined the Board of Directors.  I am now inviting you to join me in supporting our work to transition homeless people off the street into permanent housing.  I support JOIN because: 

JOIN is innovative – They were one of the first organizations nationally to commit outreach workers to the street to engage homeless people actively sleeping on the street.  JOIN was the first agency in Portland to build relationships with private market landlords, which helps to increase available housing stock and allows them to advocate individually with landlords for each household, overcoming past eviction, criminal, and bad credit records to improve access to housing.

JOIN is effective – They helped 479 men women and children escape the violence and depravation of life on the street, moving them into permanent housing last year.  This included 72 families with 118 dependent children.  Since 1998, 75% of these housing placements remained in stable housing for at least 12 months.
